So I did this talk on “getting a seat at the table” at the ABI conference recently (And if you don’t know them, you should. It’s really an amazing place where 1500 people from higher education and technology come together. Mostly post-doctoral students and sr. directors and executives from notable firms like Google, Yahoo, Cisco, Sun, Intel, etc. Really very compelling to watch really smart people come together. And all the conversations were amazing).
Anyways, had a good time professionally sharing what I’ve learned as gone from “Looking into the room” to “Being in the Room” where decisions and strategies are made.
Today, one of the folks who was also at ABI had this quote at the bottom of her email signature. Love it so had to share:
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You are on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.”
-Dr Seuss
We all decide. Well those of us that have brains in our head and feet in our shoes.
