I got assigned this book in grad school and probably rolled my eyes at the time. The idea that team dynamics could be captured in 5 dysfunctions! Heck, I could find 5 in 5 minutes at Apple. (#1: no adult supervision, #2: An organization that hired Gil Amelio, etc). It is an epic book because it can really get to the core issues and ways to manage through it. The issues: absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment, avoidance of accountability, and inattention to results. Pretty much captured it. It’s a solid book and once you can bucket the issues, it gives readers a very solid set of practical action. I guess this teaches me for rolling my eyes. Judge no book by its cover.
